Thorntons Recycling Unveils New 100% Electric-Powered Waste Collection Vehicle
Thorntons Recycling, a leading provider of waste management and recycling services, has announced the launch of its new 100% electric-powered waste collection vehicle. This innovative vehicle marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.
The new electric-powered waste collection vehicle features advanced technology that reduces emissions to zero, making it the most environmentally friendly vehicle in the Thorntons Recycling fleet. Powered by a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery system, the vehicle has a range of up to 150 kilometres on a single charge, making it ideal for urban environments.

The vehicle’s electric motor produces minimal noise, making it ideal for early morning or late-night collections. Although over twice the price of a regular diesel vehicle the lower maintenance and operating costs, and its contribution to carbon reduction makes it a sound investment for the future.
Thorntons Recycling plans to deploy its new electric-powered waste collection vehicle across its network of operations in Dublin, Ireland, and the surrounding areas. The company is also exploring other opportunities to expand its electric vehicle fleet (new Account Manager vehicles are electric) and promote sustainable waste management practices.
