There was more good jobs news with 215 new positions announced for Dublin and Waterford from nine North American and European high growth companies.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny issued a statement praising the progress being made on the Action Plan for Jobs which to date is said to have created 176,000 new jobs, and highlighted the good work being done by Mary Mitchell O’Connor.

He said: “I would like to thank the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and her officials for the hard work they are undertaking.”

The jobs announced today will be spread across sectors such as software engineering, finance, sales, technology, customer support, operations and marketing.

The largest single announcement will see 40 engineers added to the team at fabless semiconductor company Endura Technologies in Dublin.

Apple Mac specialists MacStadium will establish its European HQ in Dublin, adding 35 jobs, while Internet of Things start-up Smartforg are also adding 35 roles across finance, sales and marketing.

Other companies included in the announcement include Cloudbeds, Energenetics, Telynx, Compar AG, Paragon 28 and TPGS.

Minister Mitchell O’Connor commented: “It is terrific news that this group of companies, who are at the forefront of their technologies have decided to locate in Ireland and I look forward to their future expansion here.”

The endorsement from the Taoiseach comes after criticism was levelled at the Minister from members of her own party. Her special advisor, former TV3 anchor Alan Cantwell, resigned earlier this week.
