Dairy nutrition company Volac has increased operating profit by 37% to £23.7 million and turnover by 19% to £193.3 million for the financial year ending February 2013. Volac reported a significant increase in profit from operations in the UK, Ireland and The Netherlands, and a 31% increase in export sales revenue from UK manufacturing sites particularly to Ireland. The good performance of its dairy ingredients business was due to high commodity prices.

A privately-owned business based near Cambridge in England, Volac operates eight production facilities (six in the UK, one in The Netherlands, and one in Malaysia), which manufacture and supply high quality dairy nutrition products to the global market. Volac’s products encompass three areas – high-performance whey protein for lifestyle and sports nutrition markets; lactose rich dairy ingredients for food, beverage and animal nutrition manufacturers; and nutritional products and feeding systems for improved productivity in the agricultural market.

“There continues to be a strong demand for our dairy nutrition products which are designed to improve productivity and health in livestock and to help people lead healthier and more active lives,” explains James Neville, chief executive of Volac. “Volac has a strong track record in investing our profits back into our business. We intend to use our success to seek further collaborative investments that move our business and the industry forward.”
