Attracting more than 2,500 visitors, from across the country, and featuring 235 speakers and 350 exhibitors, the 2018 National Manufacturing and Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition, held recently in the Citywest Convention Centre in Dublin, is the largest annual gathering of the manufacturing and supply chain community in Ireland.

Now in its fifth year, the National Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition has now firmly established its position as an All-Ireland ‘must-attend’ event, which successfully connects key stakeholders across the full spectrum of Irish manufacturing, including the food, pharmaceutical, medical, chemical, life sciences and electronics sectors.

The comprehensive agenda included keynote addresses from the largest and most innovative manufacturers on the Main Stage in conjunction with the smaller conferences and seminars spread out across the Citywest Convention Centre.

The 2018 event incorporated 16 conferences under one roof including the National Sustainable Summit, Wind Power Expo, Ocean and Hydropower Summit, National Procurement Summit, Sustainable Energy Show and the Waste and Recycling Summit. Visitors interested in improving the performance of their business were able to listen to case studies and technical presentations from leading global and Irish manufacturing experts, and to meet with providers of cutting edge technology.

The comprehensive agenda included keynote addresses from the largest and most innovative manufacturers on the Main Stage in conjunction with the smaller conferences and seminars spread out across the Citywest Convention Centre. The event covered various themes including: lean, supply chain & logistics, labelling & packaging, R&D, serialisation, sustainability, 3D printing, nanotechnology, Materials Science, Industry 4.0 & The Internet of Things, the digital reinvention of industry and factory floor operations, and cyber security.

Keynote speakers at the event included: Pat Breen TD, Minister of State with special responsibility for Trade, Employment, Business, EU Digital Single Market and Data Protection; Lucinda Creighton, CEO, Vulcan Consulting; Peter Nolan, Worldwide President, BD Medical Pharmaceutical Systems; Andrew Lynch, CIO, Irish Manufacturing Research; Ivan Kelly, Global Supply Chain R&D Programme Manager, Hewlett Packard; and Edward Sweeney, Professor of Logistics and Director, Aston Logistics and Systems Institute, Aston University, Birmingham, UK.

The National Manufacturing and Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition has been carefully designed by the organisers – Premier Publishing & Events – to provide a forum for manufacturers and operators involved throughout the supply chain from across Ireland – North and South – to gather to discuss pressing issues facing Irish industry. Of course, top of the agenda this year was ‘Brexit’ and its impact on Ireland’s manufacturing industry and associated supply chain.

The conference and exhibition covered all aspects of the manufacturing and supply chain in Ireland, and, with its comprehensive programme of free workshops and key note speakers combined with exhibitors displaying the latest technological solutions available, provided something of interest and value for everyone in attendance.
