Wolfertschwenden, 21st November 2013 – At Fruit Logistica, which takes place in Berlin from 5 to 7 February 2014, MULTIVAC will be giving visitors information about a range of packaging and marking technologies for the fruit and vegetable sector. The packaging specialist will be showing on Stand D-05 in Hall 3.1 a variety of packaging solutions, which have been designed specifically for the requirements of small and medium-sized speciality businesses in the fruit and vegetable sector:

  • The R 105 thermoforming packaging machine for the production of vacuum packs and modified atmosphere packs (MAP).
  • The T 300 traysealer for the automatic packing of all types of fruit and vegetables in trays.
  • The C 400 single-chamber machine for the packing of salads, dried fruits and nuts in film pouches.
  • The MR323 conveyor belt labeller for the top labelling, and optionally also bottom labelling, of thermoformed packs and trays.

All machine models are exceptionally user-friendly and offer a very good price-performance ratio. They also require very little space, which means that they can easily be positioned even in small rooms. Their high-quality and durable stainless steel construction, together with the groundbreaking MULTIVAC Hygienic DesignTM, ensure that there is optimum ease of cleaning. This has a very positive effect on pack safety and therefore on consumer protection.

When designing the entry-level models, MULTIVAC placed particular emphasis on flexibility. The R 105 is suitable for the production of both vacuum packs and modified atmosphere packs (MAP). The T 300 enables fruit and vegetable growers to produce the widest range of packs, such as MAP packs with and without LID film or Isopak skin packs. The C 400 can be set up very flexibly as regards the arrangement of the sealing bars and the chamber heights. Its chamber lid, which is equipped with a viewing window, gives a clear view of the packaging procedure and thereby simplifies operation of the machine, even for inexperienced personnel.

FreshSAFE freshness concept

In addition to this, MULTIVAC will also be giving information about its integrated packaging concept, FreshSAFE. A fundamental element of this packaging technology is the product-specific micro-perforation of the upper web on the packaging machine itself, which enables an optimum exchange of atmosphere to be achieved, thereby producing EMAP packs (Equilibrium Modified Atmosphere Packaging). The correct number and size of perforations in each specific case isdetermined through extensive trials at MULTIVAC’s Innovation Center, and these trials form an important basis for the subsequent consultation with customer. The FreshSAFE technology allows standard films to be run, which enables the stockholding of packaging material at the processing company to be minimised.
