Key steps to preventing a ransomware attack
Ward Solutions’ recent survey revealed that one-fifth of Irish businesses have been held to ransom by cybercriminals in the past 12 months. The survey, carried out in association with TechPro Magazine, was taken by 170 senior IT professionals and decision makers in Ireland just prior to the recent WannaCry attacks.
As is clear from the survey results and the latest rapidly spreading virus linked to Petya and GoldenEye that ransomware attacks are on the increase in Ireland. Organisations need to act now and put in place a strategic plan to protect their assets. This plan should highlight the necessary precautions that are required to prevent a ransomware attack, what to do if an attack occurs and how to minimise damage in the wake of such an incident.
