Dolmen, a product design and innovation consultancy, beat 5,500 product design entries from 54 countries across the world this year to win an unprecedented five awards at the Red Dot International Design Awards.

The Red Dot International Design Awards have existed since 1954 and its awards, the ‘Red Dot’, is an international recognised quality seal of excellence. The awards were announced this week and the awards ceremony will take place on the 3rd July in Essen Germany.

The range of products that Dolmen has designed over the years is reflected in this years’ win. The design partnership wins include the N-Pro rugby head guard, developed with Contego; the Omni digital microscope, developed with Ash Technologies; the TRX rail communications system, developed with Klas Telecom; the Synconta lifting station, developed with Sulzer and the NP800 paper scanner, developed with ABB.

Chris Murphy, Design Director and CEO of Dolmen said, “After celebrating our 25th year in business in 2016, this win is a really special time for us. It highlights the strong and enduring partnerships we have with our clients and our commitment to superior, refined product design.

“I would like to thank our team in Dolmen for consistently delivering state-of-the-art, world-class designs for our clients and helping to accelerate their time to market. I would also like to thank our clients for the warm and creative relationships we have built up over the years. We look forward to celebrating this win with you!”

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Award, said, “The Red Dot winners are pursuing the right design strategy. They have recognised that good design and economic success go hand-in-hand. The award by the critical Red Dot jury documents their high design quality and is indicative of their successful design policy.”

Manufacturers and designers around the globe were invited to enter their products in the 2017 competition. The jury of over 40 independent designers, design professors and specialist journalists from across the globe tested, discussed and assessed each individual product, awarding the Honourable Mention for a well-conceived detail solution, the Red Dot for high design quality; and the Red Dot: Best of the Best for groundbreaking design. In total, the competition received more than 5,500 entries from 54 countries this year.
