CoderDojo Hosts Coolest Projects Awards at the RDS
This past weekend, the RDS hosted the fifth CoderDojo Coolest Projects Awards. Over 10,000 people attended the event.
CoderDojo is a computer club that is free for young people who are interested in technology and innovation. The club is run by a group of volunteers and operates in 63 different countries. The organization has about 35, 000 young people who attend weekly meetings across 1000 locations.
The event is an exhibition where young people between the ages of five to seventeen can display their technological developments that range from robots, apps, games and websites. Cofounder, Noel King said that this event provides bridge from learning skills in coding to practicing innovation for future employment.
Visitors were able to attend lectures discussing coding, design innovation, women entering into the technological field, and business. The Physics Busking roadshow, which is organized by Dublin City University and the Institute of Ireland also provided exhibits to entertain guests at the event.
