Thirty jobs are to be created at a Limerick chimney cleaning company which is using the latest technology to reduce potentially deadly carbon monoxide entering the home.

Chimneysafe which installs computerised chimney cleaning systems plans to roll out the jobs over the next four years.

The positions are in manufacturing, installation, sales and administration.

The company, which currently has a manufacturing facility in Limerick, plans to expand its manufacturing operation in the Eco Village, Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary.

Announcing the jobs this morning, Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly said: “This is a real unique company with great potential for the future. The product has appeal across the board as it is convenient for homeowners and has health benefits.”

Chimneysafe head of corporate sales Declan Moylan said the company’s system is set to revolutionise how chimneys are cleaned as well as providing a health benefit by reducing CO emissions.

Studies conducted on the system have shown that when Chimneysafe is installed, the danger of carbon monoxide is significantly reduced in the home and into the atmosphere.
