All Island Agri-Food Summit takes place in UCC May 2017
Companies in the agri-food sector are invited to register for the All Island Agri-Food Summit which will take place in University College Cork (UCC) on the 17th & 18th of May, 2017.
Organised by Enterprise Europe Network Ireland in collaboration with Invest Northern Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, Institute of Technology Tralee and UCC, the summit will provide an opportunity to access market leaders, state-of-the-art food innovation expertise, and B2B meeting sessions designed to sow the seeds for all island collaborations across the food sector.
There is no cost to attend this event and it will be launched with a guided tour of the in-house bakery facilities and micro-brewery on campus in UCC as well as the opportunity to hear specialist speakers from Teagasc & UCC from the dairy, meat, bakery and beverage sectors.
The event provides an array of speakers from different backgrounds offering key insights. Those in attendance include Professor Christine Loscher, Director of Dublin City University’s new Health Technologies Research and Enterprise Hub who will discuss Emerging Opportunities for Healthier Foods.
Michael Bell, Executive Director of NI Food & Drink Association will present Does it Matter Where Our Food Comes From? written by Professor Chris Elliott of Queen’s University Belfast Institute for Global Food Security.
Chris Brockman, Head of Food & Drink at Mintel Europe will discuss Global Food Trends in 2017 and what the future might hold. Dr. Helena McMahon from the Institute of Technology Tralee, Managing Editor of TasteofScience.com will discuss how Taste of Science is enabling and accelerating the flow of knowledge and technologies from food innovators to food enterprises encouraging progression in the food sector.
Dr. Imelda Lambkin, Director of Ireland’s national support network for Horizon 2020, will outline European funding opportunities for SMEs and the Marie Curie H2020 project.
P J O’Reilly, Regional Manager with Enterprise Ireland outlined that “attending this event will give attendees information on the expertise and capabilities within our third level institutes and Teagasc regarding research and development, and how they can tap into this to benefit their business. It is also an ideal opportunity for participants to network and build relationships with their peers and R&D facilitators, as well as having access to distribution channels”.
