Bord Bia has announced that the value of Irish food and drink exports was almost €11bn last year. That is the highest ever level of exports for the sector – and it’s 3% up on the previous year. The 2015 figure is up by 51% or €3.6bn when compared to 2009.
Bord Bia has said the UK accounts for 41% of our food and drink exports – with our competitiveness helped by the weaker euro compared to sterling.
Chief Executive Aidan Cotter commented “This year will present further opportunities for growth in most sectors notwithstanding challenges from continued global dairy price pressures through the early months of 2016.”
