€10m for Dun Laoghaire shopping centre redevelopment
The owners of Dun Laoghaire shopping Centre have lodged planning permission for a €10m redevelopment of the site.
Coltard plans to create two large anchor stores, one fronting onto Marine Road (extending to 2,124 sq m over two levels), and one fronting onto Georges Street (extending up to 4,181 sq m over two or three levels).
The centre is also looking to modernise the exterior with double-height glazing, new stone cladding as well as newly glazed triple-height entrances into the scheme.
The centre opened in 1976 and has an average weekly footfall of 62,000.
At present SuperValu is the anchor tenant, with other main tenants including New Look, Holland & Barrett, Specsavers, and Carphone Warehouse.
It is hoped the redeveloped spaces would be ready for handover to prospective tenants in Q2 2017.
Robert Murphy of Murphy Mulhall, who asset manages the centre on behalf of Coltard, said: “The centre underwent a substantial internal renovation in 2009 and once planning is granted, the final piece of the jigsaw will fall into place.”
Jason Miller of Murphy Mulhall who heads up the leasing team added that “already a number of anchor stores have expressed interest in what will give them a large foothold in the very affluent South Dublin market”.
