Arla Foods UK is supporting the business requirements of the Arla Foods amba co-operative by processing German concentrated skimmed milk at Westbury, for up to a three-month period. The decision to transfer production follows a recent fire at one of the global business’s powder drying facilities in Pronsfeld, Germany.

The resulting skimmed milk powder will be sold into export markets, outside of the UK.

Arla Foods is home to some of the UK’s leading dairy brands including Cravendale, Lurpak, Castello, Lactofree and Anchor. The co-operative processes 3.2 billion litres of milk a year and has a turnover of approximatey £2 billion.

Arla is the UK’s number one dairy company, by turnover and milk pool, and is the largest supplier of both butter and spreads, and manufacturer of cheese in the country.
