2020 a record year for Biotech investment

Despite the many challenges of the pandemic in 2020, one thing unaffected was Venture Capital investment into Biotech. In fact, 2020 was the biggest investment year in recent history with the highest number of completed Biotech transactions, representing $38.6 billion of capital allocated, according to GlobalData, the information services company.
Highlights:
- Venture Financing up 11% by volume
- Venture Financing up 64% by value
- Early stage assets account for 55% of all investments made (Discovery & Pre-Clinical)
- Oncology, CNS & Immunology as the top three therapy areas represent 60% of all investments.
